MCP charters an Enterprise Interest Group, with Okta, Saxo Bank and Nordstrom practitioners among its first members

The official MCP docs gained an Enterprise Interest Group charter on 2026-08-29, when PR #2626 merged; a follow-up (#3321, merged 2026-08-30) placed it in the interest-groups navigation. Where the Transports Working Group chartered in August owns specification work, an Interest Group is a tier below: the Enterprise IG's mandate is to capture the requirements gaps enterprises hit when deploying MCP in production as problem statements and structured recommendations, and to channel them to the Working Groups. Writing or owning SEPs is explicitly out of scope.

The charter's in-scope list reads as a map of where enterprise deployments strain the protocol today: identity-provider integration and on-behalf-of token exchange, identity propagation across delegated and spawned agents, audit trail formats for MCP tool invocations and their SIEM integration, gateway and proxy behavior under the stateless core, multi-region scaling, and request interception for PII redaction and compliance validation. Each area routes to a named receiving group: the Auth WG for authentication requirements, the Transport WG for non-functional transport needs, the Extensions WG for the rest, alongside the existing Security, Gateways and Financial Services Interest Groups.

The membership table is the notable part. Beyond facilitators Raghu Chandra (Independent) and Yannj_Fr (MCPApps Builders), both on six-month terms, the 13 listed members include practitioners from Saxo Bank, Nordstrom (an MCP maintainer), Boomi, Okta, Blue Shield of California, Solo.io, EmpowerID, TraceForce and Archestra: banking, retail, healthcare and identity vendors signing up to document their deployment gaps in public. The roadmap published 2026-08-22 named agent identity as a priority area, and the charter routes enterprise identity requirements to the Auth WG as one named channel into that work.
